: In March 2019 Cornwall Museums Partnership & SW Museum Development hosted the Cornwall Heritage Awards to celebrate & champion the work that is taking place in local museums & heritage organisations.

As the competition was much tougher than last year & there were many more participants, we were especially pleased to receive special acknowledgment for 2 of our entries. I was delighted that the Mayor Cllr Pam Jarrett was able to join me for a most enjoyable & interesting Awards Ceremony. Lostwithiel Museum was awarded Highly Commended in 2 categories: Family Friendly & Project on a Budget. The Family Friendly Award highlights the new Toddler Trail [not to be confused with the Children's Trail which was also given a Family Friendly Award in 2018] which is a free activity designed to help families with young children engage with the museum collection in a fun way. Families explore the museum to find the 12 naughty little rubber ducks who have escaped the town's duck race during Carnival Week & are hiding in the museum. There is a quiz sheet for guardians to fill in for the children as they spot the 11 ducks plus the one disguised as a red apple. The Project on a Budget focused on our new corporate identity which includes the re-designed logo, stationery, publications & additional signage, all chosen to give the museum the more united & professional image it deserves.
